Actually, I completely agree with your review. This was not "Great Theater," but was enjoyable, as long as you check your expectations at the door. (We took Brady's visiting brother and sister-in-law to "Birdie" the week before you saw it.)
I would only add that I was disappointed with the set design. An admittedly dated show like "Birdie" needs to have an appropriately lavish set reflective of its era, not the minimalist set of the current Broadway production. It worked against the show.

Well I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was a bit worried since I'd heard a lot of negative things and seen several bad reviews.
